How to get here?
Car:
The main motorway down to Mousehole is via the M5 which turns into the A30 all the way to Penzance. This route can get busy at peak times and we have found if you can travel either early in the morning or in the evening time there is far less traffic. There are various overnight stop off points en route and again you can find yourself a reasonably priced, family roadside hotel. Our pick would be the Travelodge along the M5 or A30. Okehampton or Exeter M5 are perfect stopover points
Train
There are direct train services from London Paddington and Manchester Piccadilly to Penzance, stopping at many major towns and cities en route.
The Manchester train stops at amongst many others, Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Bristol, Taunton, Plymouth and Exeter.
The London Paddington train stops at Reading, Taunton, Tiverton and Plymouth amongst others
There is an overnight sleeper service, which operates every night except Saturdays that leaves from London Paddington. This is a great adventure and gets you into Penzance just in time for breakfast at 7.30am. You can find out all information on this via Seat 61.
As always book early to get a reasonable fair, tickets are usually open for advance fares twelve weeks before departure.
Additional savings can be made via Two Together, Family & Friends, Senior Rail cards as well as others. You can save even on just one trip!
Coach
National Express run daytime services from various destinations in the UK and an overnight service from London Victoria. Very reasonably priced but not as comfortable as rail as you would imagine.
Air
Cornwall Airport in Newquay is the nearest airport and has many UK and European connections.
Car hire
Europcar, Hertz and Enterprise have bases in Penzance for car hire.
